Kojonup identity, english teacher (by trade),
stay-at-home-mum by day and a freelance writer by night,
Rachael Blair, spent 2 years researching & writing 'Breastfeeders
Anonymous'
Rachael breastfed
both her sons and due to her passion, research and interest
in infant feeding, has become a kind of breastfeeding mentor
to those who know her. Her book was the end result -
now she just needed to get into print! Reputable and friendly
book printers were thin on the ground, so she trawled the
internet for a company that met her requirements.
Self
Publish Australia was delighted to discuss with Rachael her
project, and the varying options that were available to
her. We presented a cost/quantity analysis, advised
on the most appropriate format for her genre. Rachael was
fortunate enough to have a tech-savvy mum for book layout,
and graphic designer friend for book cover design. We liaised
with both, including some hints, tips and pitfalls to
avoid - of which there are many - to produce a book a large
publisher would be happy to call their own.
Print-ready PDF
files received
On sighting
of Rachael's print files, we assessed it was of sufficient
quality to be published under our publishing arm. We would assign an ISBN, generate a barcode for
the backcover, and promote on our websites.
All rights remain with the author, but appearing a 'published'
author would assist her in pursuing various sales channels
that otherwise may not have been open to her otherwise.
Book Printing & Despatch
Four short weeks later, once
printed, bound & boxed, Breastfeeders Anonymous was
couriering it's way down south of Perth to a Kojonup
lounge room.
Book Marketing & Distribution
Rachael has been very successful spreading the word about her book and breastfeeding, with radio interviews, magazine editorials and reviews, and has even been signed up with a national book distributor, selling into all bookstores in Australia and New Zealand.
